Tyranid Ravener for Dawn of War 2

Tyranids are the newest race to be included in the Dawn of War franchise, and as such, we had to make sure they stood out to look as bad ass as possible.

This happy creature is the Ravener. He uses his 6 limbs to claw his way into the earth and burrow deep, creating tunnels for other Tyranids to travel through quickly to the enemy. He also has, in his chest a powerful ranged weapon called the Devourer. The Devourer fires out in a hail of mucus a group of small, black worms that burrow their way into their enemies, eating them from the inside.

I modeled him in 3DSMax, and then brought the low resolution mesh to ZBrush to create a high resolution one to generate normals from. Then, back on the low resolution mesh, painted all the other textures in Photoshop.

Dawn of War 2 is a Real Time Strategy game due out early 2009
